Getting Started

The Ordering Process

We understand that ordering a floor, wall covering or other custom project for your home can be an exciting or even overwhelming process for our customers. It is for that reason that our sales team works hard to help you come to a decision that will leave you with a priceless and enduring addition to your home or business.

The first step in the ordering process is a consultation with one of our sales representatives. This can be done over the phone, via our Contact Us link or in person here in our showroom. If you are unsure of the product you want, this can be helpful in picking the best product for you. If you already know what you want, this can help you make sure you find a product that is most suited to your individual needs and stipulations. Elements such as foot traffic, temperature changes, subflooring, new floor or matching an existing and level of use will be discussed during this time.

If you are unable to target a particular specie or design during your consultation, your sales representative may suggest we create some samples for you. If you are trying to decide between a variety of species, we will start by sending one piece of each to help narrow down the options. Once you have decided on a specie, then we’ll send two to four pieces of the same material that will include possible characteristics of said specie and grade. This will help to determine stain and finish and give you a good idea of what to expect in the final project. This is a service Bingham does free of charge so that our customers can receive a general expectation of the product.  Samples can also be ordered via our online Sample Request Form.

After you have consulted our sales team and narrowed down your search, they will be able to draw up a quote on the product you have decided on. These can be done on the spot, but often times they are typed and emailed to our customers. This allows our team to be able to fully research the material(s) you are looking for and get you the most accurate quote including finish, tax or freight. Quotes are only valid for 30 days. If an order is placed 30 days from the date of the initial quote, the order may need to be repriced due to market fluctuation, price changes or other circumstances. Note that if you’ve had a quote or an estimate drafted for you, the order has not been placed. The lead time specified on the quote will be from the time the order is placed and a 50% deposit has been received by Bingham. An additional 5-10 day acclimation period, where the product is placed throughout the desired area should be added on to the lead time given by our sales team. Please keep this in mind when placing your order and scheduling your installation.

Once a decision has been made, then comes time to place your order! At the time an order is placed, a 50% deposit is required on all orders. This can be done with cash, check or credit card if you are visiting our showroom or can be done with a credit card over the phone. If you would like to mail a check, that can be done also. However, please note that the lead time given starts from the date the deposit has been received. We accept all major credit cards. If you place your order by phone, we will send you an email confirmation and deposit receipt. Please review your order carefully and let us know of any changes that need to be made. To place the order, we will require:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Phone number
  • Customer pick up or delivery
  • Product being ordered
  • Widths specified
  • Square footage needed (including a 7-10% waste factor)
  • If there is going to be a custom finish applied or if the job will go out unfinished (lead times on custom jobs are typically longer than unfinished products)
  • If you are ordering custom millwork such as a table, counter top or stair treads, we may ask for a template for any pieces that have an abnormal shape i.e. ones that have a cut-out or irregular angles. This will ensure that the product we make will fit into existing spaces.

Once your order has been placed your job is done! Now it’s time for our production crew to get their job done as they prepare, mill, sand, stain and finish your project to perfection!
