Reclaimed select vertical grain Heart Pine is an elegant flooring choice. Bingham’s craftsmen rely on our 69 years of experience to quarter-saw the antique Heart Pine timbers. This highly sought after grade of flooring features tight vertical grain, maximum heart content, minimal nail holes and small tight knots. New construction, renovation, or building a reproduction; this flooring is found through historic homes, water front estates, brownstones, and countless homes in between.

Where our Product Originates

Antique select vertical grain Heart Pine is traditionally re-sawn from large selected heart pine timbers. The timbers are then quarter-sawn by skilled craftsmen to maximize the yield from the tight grained timbers. These timbers are found in centuries old industrial buildings, as well as many southern U.S. structures. Southern Yellow Heart Pine was harvested to almost extinction in the early 1800’s for use as building materials for large factories and plantations during the Industrial Revolution.

Reclaimed Premium Heart Pine

Reclaimed Wide Plank Flooring

The many attributes to Reclaimed Long Leaf Pine have stood the test of time and make it one of the most popular reclaimed floors.  The warm richness of color and durability of its heart wood is undeniably the most recognizable of these traits.  The varying grades can give you an elegant to a rustic country floor.  We have prefinished many reclaimed heart pine plank floors and the warmth of this heart wood always prevails in the rich patina achieved by multiple coats of tung oil.

The classic look of a reclaimed heart pine floor is found within Bingham’s premium grade flooring. Our skilled graders blend the entire “cut” of what the salvaged timbers have to offer into the grade. You will find clear boards, knotty boards and some vertical grain blended together creating a warm and inviting floor. Color variations, sound knot structure and a few drying checks enhance the natural beauty of the floor. Subtle nail holes and other characteristics telling of the floors history contribute in making this our most popular grade of antique heart pine flooring.

Where our Product Originates

Antique Heart Pine was the fiber of choice throughout the Industrial Revolution in mill buildings and factories. The sheer size of the buildings and the structural timbers is just amazing. These mill buildings and factories are surprisingly uniform and consistent in how they were constructed. The buildings consist of columns, structural timbers and thick decking located on each factory floor and within the roof system. Each of these components provides us with different types of wood fiber creating several grades of flooring.

Tobacco Heart Pine

Reclaimed Wide Plank Flooring

Tobacco Heart Pine flooring is comprised of brown aged heart pine boards that are salvaged form the interior of barns and tobacco drying sheds. This raw material has a deep rich brown color with the natural saw marking texture that allows for the custom sanding and manufacturing much like our popular Kendall Road product. Tobacco pine flooring offers a good average width, sound knot structure, nails holes and slight sound checking throughout the grade. From western Massachusetts down the eastern seaboard, we find select drying sheds and barns that hold these prized boards for reclamation.

Where our Product Originates

Bingham Tobacco Pine is manufactured from interior boarding founding drying sheds and barns. This long leaf heart pine board never saw the exposure that boards are subject to on the exterior of the building, essentially having less checks and yielding an overall wider width when being processed. The heart pine boards, being on the inside of the structure, are aged from both time and exposure and indirect elements, creating a nice deep rich patina that when manufactured through the Bingham custom sanding process, feature a deep rich color that enhances any space.

Beam Sawn Oak

Reclaimed Wide Plank Flooring

Beam Oak Flooring is comprised of oak boards that are sawn from beams that were harvested from the forest 100-200 years ago producing a unique color and quality that is just not available today. Most of the traditional characteristics found in a classic oak floor are found within the reclaimed beam sawn oak floor, but with a superior wood fiber. This slow grown material has a unique rich color when finished that is simply not able to be replicated.

Completing this floor with an oil-based finish is recommended. This will bring out the natural colors and tannins in the wood. It can also be easily stained prior to finish as well.

Where our Product Comes From

Beam Oak Flooring originates from the oak beams found throughout the barn structures that are deconstructed. These oak beams have many shapes, sizes and textures, but once sawn, they are yielding prized oak boards that have much to offer. These beams were cut from trees that grew in the time of prized timberland. These trees grew in dense forest where there was competition for light, water and nutrients which resulted in very slow growth. The slow growth oak trees are now yielding some of the finest oak boards, far different from any material harvested today. It is safe to say, “it is made like it used to be”.
